Richard is the funeral director at Marlatt Funeral Home & Cremation Centre in Dundas. Marlatt's is part of the Dignity Memorial group of funeral homes. Dignity Memorial has over 1,000 North American locations and over 17,000 employees.
Richard talked about the various outreach community outreach programs provided by Marlatt's. These programs include the Dignity Memorial® Escape School®, Dignity Memorial Smart & Safe LivingTM , Dignity Memorial Public Servants Program and Dignity Memorial Homeless Veterans Burial Program, as well as a variety of grief counselling services.
Richard also talked about the history of the embalming industry in North America-from the 1800 front parlour visitations, to today's customize services that run the gamut from large catered events to quiet observances with family and close friends.
Richard studies embalming at the Humber School of Embalming. Before becoming a funeral director Richard held a variety of positions in the customer services sector. He is an active volunteer with the Good Shepherd Centre and the Hamilton AIDS Network.
