Colin took up oboe in high school and it was his ticket into the University of Calgary where he graduated, became and actor and dancer for 15 years and then a professional musician. He heard a CD of Quartello Gelato, loved it and auditioned and got a job as a clarinet player. Ten years later he owned the group.

Colin plays 6 or 7 instruments but his audience likes the musical saw the best. He ordered his through Home Depot. Rather than hold the end of the saw as many players do he uses a "cheat". That way his hand does not cramp up when he changes instruments doing a show.

He holds the saw between his legs and creates an "s" bend to allow the saw to vibrate when the bow is pulled.
His group has played all over the world. Check out the website for more information on Quartetto Gelato http://quartettogelato.ca
Colin has created 106 videos that mirror the various music curricula across Canada and is marketing them to grade 1-6 schools.
