Paul Clifford named Honorary Member of the club.
Paul has been a member of Rotary for almost 50 years – he joined on June 6, 1976, and became a founding member of this Sunrise Club on July 1, 1999 – His sponsor into Sunrise was Bob Morrow!
Paul was a long time Professor of Geology at McMaster University and a world leading vulcanologist – which is to do with volcanoes, not Star Trek.
He has made great contributions to the community – was Chair of the Board of St. Mathews House, - which as a Club we still support through our Annual Auction – was involved in the founding of HARRRP - Hamilton Association for Residential & Recreational Redevelopment Programs and continues to be a major donor to many of our club projects. Most recently the library at our Kenya Maktaba project was named in his honour.
So, in thanks for all Paul has done for the club and community, we wish to recognize him as an Honorary Member of the Sunrise Rotary Club.

Honorary membership is a way for Rotary to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to Rotary ideals and service. Candidates for honorary membership are typically individuals who have distinguished themselves through meritorious service and embody Rotary values. Honorary members are exempt from the payment of admission fees and dues, do not have a vote, and are not eligible to hold any office in the club.
