Harold Gruneberg - May 27/08

Harold started out with a short talk about Alternate power from Renewable source which included Wind Farms, Solar Panels and Geothermal.(heating from deep inside the earth). He gave a short talk about Fossil and other non renewable fuels such as Oil, Coal, Coke, Natural Gas and Nuclear fuels Harold talked about where he currently worked, which is at the Portland Energy Centre in Toronto. Portland will be a Thermal Energy (steam producing), Co generating facility  that uses Natural Gas. It will make enough electricity to supply all the homes in Hamilton. Cogeneration is when one fuel is used to for two useful purposes. Harold finished his talk by quickly explaining how a Cogen Plant operates.
