Donations to Rotary

Do you know there are four bank accounts where your club funds are deposited? With three treasurers in the club managing these four accounts it becomes very important to first: know where you want the money to go; and second to tell at least one of the treasurers.
Sharon Lacey is treasurer for Dundas Valley Sunrise Rotary Club. She will deposit your weekly breakfast payment and your semi-annual dues. Sharon does not issue any charitable donation receipts for the deposits she makes although on many occasions, such as the Red Cross Katrina Fund, she will act as a conduit for your funds.
Russ Powers is the designated treasurer for Rotary International. Russ takes your cheques as a sustaining member and also receives the club's cheques for our donations to RI. Rotary International is the charitable foundation of Rotary that funds our global service projects. It is very important that if you wish to contribute to Rotary International to recognize an event such as your birthday and anniversary that you identify this purpose to Russ or another treasurer who will ensure that your money goes where you wanted it to go. Russ will forward the money to the Canadian branch of RI who will issue a Canadian charitable donation receipt to you directly.
Carl Lehman is the treasurer of the Club's two public foundations, each of which can issue a charitable donation receipt for your contributions. Both of these foundations are registered charities for a very specific purpose. The Dundas Valley Foundation can receive and disburse funds ONLY for the purpose of clothing, housing, feeding, and educating families with young children. The Dundas Valley Ice Rink Trust can receive and disburse funds ONLY for the purpose of constructing an artificial outdoor ice surface in Dundas.
Happy dollars of $20 or more are eligible for a charitable donation receipt. It makes it much easier for the three treasurers if you identify this payment to them and indicate where you want it to go. The same of course applies to any other donation you wish to make. We are not encouraging additional donations to either of these charities ( you do a lot already as Rotarians), however you should be aware that we do have charitable foundations within Rotary that you may wish to consider for your annual family givings for charity. Many of your fellow Rotarians have made a significant donation to a Rotary charity.
